Project Description:
This project is currently in construction and
will replace the previously existing facility located on campus that is over fifty years
old and inadequate to serve the needs of the college. Funding will be
provided by the State of Washington (Dept. of E & A Services) and will house the College’s Vocational and Technical Education Programs (Welding Science,
Machine Technology, Fabrication Technology, Automotive Technology, Nuclear
Technology and future
expansion to add Diesel/Agricultural Technology as well as Solar/Electrical
Design programs). The facility is being
designed on a modular system, which means that as equipment, technology, and
instructional methods change, the building can be retrofitted without
renovation. By designing services (air, water, gas, etc.) and systems
(mechanical and electrical) in a modular system, areas can be reconfigured
or replaced without renovating. This allows the College to add
additional curriculums into existing programs, like hybrid automotive
equipment to the automotive laboratory, without changes to the systems and
service infrastructure.
